Week 23/Day 2: A Friend’s Love

Memory Verse for A Friend’s Love

Write the memory verse three times before you do the study for today. Write it once on a note card to put in a prominent place or take a dry erase marker and write it on your bathroom mirror.

“… Greater love has no one that this, that someone lay down his life for his friends…”

John 15:13

Spiritual Discipline: A Friendship Colloquy

Consider making a date God for a time to talk about your friendship with Him.

Day 2

Read 1 Samuel 18:1-4

How do these verses describe the friendship between Jonathan and David?

What did Jonathan do to show his love for David?

The ESV says Jonathan’s soul was knit to the soul of David.

Read 2 Corinthians 5:16-21

According to Webster’s reconcile means to restore to friendship.

Jesus’ death on the cross literally restored our friendship with God. It made a way for our souls to be knit together with God’s just like He intended from the beginning when He walked and talked to Adam in the garden.

Read verse 17 once more.

What does our friendship with Christ do in us?

Consider the ways He’s made you new.
