Everyone is Someone for Whom Christ Died
All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
Ephesians 2:3-5 NLT
Day 1: The Disciples
Read Matthew 26:26-35
After the last supper with His twelve closest disciples, they sang a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives.
What did Jesus say they would do because of Him this night?
Why would it happen?
What was the response of Peter and the others?
Knowing the rest of the story (Matthew 26:55-56), what would you call these men who didn’t do what they said?
Liars. Everyone of them a liar.
What is your first response to hearing them called liars?
What about you? Do you always do what you say? Have you lied to God?
Go back to the beginning of today’s passage. Consider what He is offering. Does it take on personal meaning? Explain.
