God Our Encourager
Return to the Reflection Scripture:
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?
Romans 8:31-32 ESV
Being light in a dark world is not easy. But that’s what we’re called to do as followers of Jesus.
God was completely “for” His Son, just as He is completely “for” us. Knowing what you know of Jesus’s story, consider:
How do you see God being “for” Jesus while He ministered on earth, in the flesh?
How do the ways He was “for” Jesus translate to your life?
Do you see Him as your Encourager?
God’s sources of encouragement: His Word, His Spirit, His people
Three types of encouragement: Inspire, Come Alongside, Spur On
Read Romans 15:1-7
The people of God are encouraged to bear with one another’s failings. Why?
What sources of encouragement are involved in the building up of the church? What form(s) of encouragement do you see the sources use? What is the purpose of the encouragement?
Consider Romans 15:7. What has been your experience with Jesus? How can your relationship with Him inspire you to encourage others in His name?
