Hope: Our Glory
Praising God as Glorious can be difficult, it’s such an abstract idea, not one we can readily wrap our minds around.
What emotions rise when you hear the word: glorious?
What have you run across in this world or experienced which you would call glorious?
Now take those feelings and experiences and apply them to God as the source of all those glorious things. The One who defines glorious and exemplifies it perfectly.
On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness.
Psalm 145:5-6 ESV
Wrestling with Hope
Breathe in… breathe out…
Quiet the noise of the world around you.
Whisper, hum, sing, or meditate on the hymn:
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
In the refrain, the lyricist honors his One Hope.
The Reflection Thoughts led us to consider God’s opinion of us. Do you struggle with an issue which you believe might change God’s opinion of you? Is He calling you to repent? Fall before Him and make your confession.
At times we become too focused on our failings and forget the power of Christ in us. We remain before God covered in guilt and shame, denying Christ’s glorious work in us. Jesus is the only Rock we have to stand on before God. Good behavior and obedience alone are simply sinking sand.
Have you denied Christ in you? What sinking sand are you standing on? How can you move to solid ground?
Finish this week’s beatitude:
Blessed are those who fail,
Reflect on His words to you. Ask Him to fill you with the hope needed to make your faith rock solid.
