Unfolding Enough: Ravished

Read Song of Solomon 1:7

Tell me where you’re working
   —I love you so much—
Tell me where you’re tending your flocks,
where you let them rest at noontime.
Why should I be the one left out,
outside the orbit of your tender care?

Song of Solomon 1:7 The Message

What seems to be causing the woman’s concern?

Read Song of Solomon 1:8

If you can’t find me, loveliest of all women,
it’s all right. Stay with your flocks.
Lead your lambs to good pasture.
   Stay with your shepherd neighbors.

Song of Solomon 1:8 The Message

How does the man respond to her anxious need to know where he is?

Consider what this Scripture reveals about living in relationship with God and others.

Is there a time you felt disconnected from the community of God (Father, Son, Spirit)? How?

In the moments you can’t seem to find God no matter how hard you look, imagine Him saying, If you can’t find me it’s all right. I haven’t gone anywhere. Stay in the place I’ve provided for you. Keep close to the things that nourish your soul. Don’t go far from the support of others. Trust the Shepherd. Trust me to never leave you nor forsake you.

What does this look like in your life’s circumstances today? How might you stay and trust?
