A short conversation with a friend led me to reflect on why I observe Lent. My first gut response was because I feel led to prepare for Resurrection Day. But today’s name for Jesus spurred me to think about my focus during this season and my testimony, the very reason I am a follower of Jesus. (Read more by clicking on the link: Mediator)
In the liturgy of Communion in my church I hear the words:
in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ,
we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving
as a holy and living sacrifice,
in union with Christ’s offering for us,
as we proclaim the mystery of faith.
Lent, an offering of myself, in union with the Mediator, to proclaim the mystery of faith.
Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.
Amen and amen.
